Pastor Williams,
I watched a re-broadcast of a Larry King Live show last Saturday, the interviewee being the former New Jersey Governor James McGreevey. Mr. McGreevey resigned his post as governor so he could openly “come out of the closet” about his homosexuality. He was raised as a Catholic but converted to Episcopal after “coming out.” You see, this was his “life partner’s” faith. Mr McGreevey divorced his wife, leaving behind his three children and political post to be with another man. His partner was eventually brought out on air and they greeted each other with a kiss on the lips. I actually heard McGreevey say “Hello sweetheart” to another man on national television! Needless to say, they shared intimate details of their lives as a couple. They were holding hands, hugging each other on occasion, and gazing affectionately one to the other at times. Yesterday, Oprah Winfrey’s show was about married couples where one or both spouses were homosexuals who had gotten married as heterosexuals. From each marriage children were born. These people talked quite frankly about an attraction to the same sex from childhood. McGreevey even talked about his first homosexual experience when he was in the seventh grade. Talk about selfishness! To knowingly betray your spouse, then add insult to injury by bringing innocent children into this mess! Society is continuously pushing the notion that there is nothing wrong with homosexuality, in our school systems and in some churches. It’s being served up to the public as a normal, glamorous and glorified alternative lifestyle. It angers and frustrates me that the church, for the most part, has not cried out loud and long. In fact, many openly homosexuals are serving as ministers of music in our churches and even in our pulpits. It is both sickening and disturbing when one looks at the direction our country is heading. It’s okay (politically correct) to embrace what God calls sin and an abomination, while persecuting a parent for discipling his child with a spanking. What a terrible state of affairs! We as a nation are so concerned about our tangible and material wealth and health, that we have failed ourselves and our children in the most important arena; our lack of concern about our eternal destination.
Thank you for crying out and being vigilant about the subtleties of Satan. The one comfort we have is that Christ Jesus warned us that society would degenerate into an immoral condition before He returns. Therefore the events you mentioned is simply a fulfillment of scriptures. If you read Romans the first chapter and also 1st Timothy 4th chapter, you will see that the current immorality we see are end time events. These events are precicpated by people turning away from God to their lustful passions.
However, the Apostle Paul states that if the Gospel be hid, it is hid to those that are lost. Even with the current immoral climate there are still those that will be saved and continue on in the faith. We as believers need to be encouragers of one another.
Churches and believers are crying out, as you just did, but we do not receive the media coverage. Black Pastors on last year tried to get an audience with the congressional Black Caucus on the issue of homosexuality and their opposition to it, but it received scant media coverage. Eddie Long, the Pastor of New Birth out of Lithonia, Georgia along with Bernice King, the daughter of Martin Luther King, marched the streets of Atlanta in protest against homosexuality. They too were ridiculed for the stand they took and received little positive media exposure. Pastor Wooten at Upper Room COGIC in Raleigh and Pastor Fozard in Durham have consistently gone on record as being against homosexuality.
The Black church appears to be the last hold out against capitulating to the acceptance of homosexulity. However, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and other black personalities in the media eye have joined hands with the evil works of darkness to undermine the moral authority in black churches.
Continue to be vigilant and pray.
Pastor Williams,
For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9) And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” 2Cor 5:10 states “For we must all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the flesh, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” Romans 1:24) states “Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves.” Romans 1:26) “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27) Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28) And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29) being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evilmindedness; they are whisperers, 30) backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents.” HOW PROPHETIC IS GOD’S WRITTEN WORD!! How accurate, timely and relevant are these Scriptures, written over two thousand years ago; rightly depicting the sin-sick conditions of today’s world. Mankind, on that Great Day, when we stand before the Judgement Seat of Christ; will be without excuse. If a two years old child can be taught the difference between right and wrong, there will be no justifiable alibi for an adult. Hebrews 10:31 states “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God.” Our only hope is in Jesus Christ. For we cannot save ourselves because of sin and disobedience. Christ Jesus, God’s only begotten Son, has paid our sin debt in full. All we have to do is pick up the receipt. To “pick up your receipt,” you must surrender your will, way and life to Him. He loved us so much that He gave His very life for us, redeeming us back to Father God. No man can come to or before God except through Christ Jesus. It is Father God’s desire that none of us should perish, but that we all repent and turn from our sinful ways. Christ Jesus is the “ONLY WAY.”He chose us long ago; why not choose Him today.
Galations 5:7-9 states “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man sows, that he also will reap.
Amen!!!
Pastor Williams,
Please expound on the subject of the Bride of Christ. While listening to a Christian radio program today, I heard a rather prominent Tele-Evangelist state that the body of Christ/the Church is the bride. I’ve heard this same teaching most of my life. Recently, I’ve heard a different interpretation of scripture regarding this subject.
The Bible never calls the Body of Christ the Bride. We are called members of the Body of Christ (Romans 12:5, I Corinthians 6:15, I Corinthians 12:27). You cannot be the Bride and a member of the Body of Christ.
Many interpret Ephesians 5:25 as the relationship Christ has with the Bride. It says husbands love your wife as Christ loved the Church. It is using a comparison in showing how we should love and it does not say as Christ loved the Bride.
Instead Revelation 21:2 speaks of New Jerusalem as a Bride coming down out of heaven.
KB,
The following was ommitted. Revelations 21:9,10 says very clearly that New Jerusalem is the Bride of Christ.
9 ¶ And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife.
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
Also in the 22nd chapter of Revelation Spirit and the Bride bid the believers to come:
Pastor Williams,
How can you discern whether a person has become a reprobate? My NKJV of Romans 1:28 reads “debased mind” whereas the KJV reads “reprobate.” Is there a significant difference between the two? Is this person hopelessly lost or can he be restored to his right mind, repent, turn from his sinful ways and accept Christ’s salvation?
Jeremiah 6:30 speaks of the wicked as reprobate silver because the Lord has rejected them. Meaning the wicked have no value to God.
This word is also used with reference to persons cast away or rejected because they have failed to make use of opportunities offered them (1 Cor. 9:27; 2 Cor. 13:5-7).
Hebrews 6:8 uses the Greek word for reprobate but translates it as worthless. Every definition, whether debased mind, reprobate or worthless are all pointing to the same conclusion – a person that has turned away from the knowledge of God.
When God gives you over to a reprobate mind, no man can restore you. A person given over to a reprobate mind is a person who has known and rejected the council and mercy of God in not retaining God in their knowledge.
God is simply giving the person what he has chosen – a mind devoid of God. A person that is reprobate not only does not want to retain God in his knowledge but also opposes God when He is working in other people’s lives.
Yes such a person is hopelessly lost. However, you must remember that the person has actually known God and turned away from the knowledge of God (2 Peter 2:20-22). Most people do not know God is such a way that they would be turned over to a reprobate mind.
God is in the business of saving sinners. Do not confuse sinners with reprobates. A reprobate is a person that knew God or was saved, and decided to reject the knowledge God gave unto him.
Deception is in the air. Many churches will have halloween celebrations. How can you mix good with evil. Why is it that the church believes that it must respond to every demonic event without establishing its own righteous way of life.
Why do we need a hallelluia night or give away treats night on halloween? We may deceive ourselves, but the children are not deceived. They know that they went to church on halloween night and the treats they received were received based on halloween.
Our lives should be so devoted to God that we do not have time to entertain the trappings of the world. Are we that bored and uncreative that we cannot occupy our children without resorting to the devil’s tools. How can anything good come out of something that is evil?
Wicca is the religion of witches recognized by the USA. How can we possible bring a pagan religion or its related emblems into the sacred House of God. How can we introduce our children to such deceptions and expect them to be holy unto God.
Deuteronomy 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
Galatians 5:20,21 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
