  1. Below are parts of the platforms I believe speaks to the morals of the major political parties in the State of North Carolina.

I first must qualify what God teaches us from His word concerning leaders.

Daniel 4:17 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

In other words, our voting does not really make a difference. It is God who appoints the leaders.

Jeremiah 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

In an indirect way, what is in our heart, lifestyle and relationship with God determines who God will give us as a leader. The word Pastor in the Old Testament means leaders, such as kings, princes, etc., which today are our political leaders. Therefore God will give us leaders according to where He sees us as repentant of sin and turning to Him through His Son Christ Jesus our Lord as it says in Jeremiah 3:14.

    NORTH CAROLINA DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM

    HUMAN RIGHTS
We reaffirm our commitment to the full and equal protection of the lives, liberties, rights, and properties of all citizens and residents of North Carolina. All human beings deserve the opportunity to realize their own potential. We support the provisions of the Geneva Convention, and believe any American departure from it undermines our moral standing in the world, thereby threatening our soldiers and citizens abroad.
CIVIL LIBERTIES: We support the fundamental rights to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of association and assembly and the right not to be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law. We oppose efforts to limit or eliminate these fundamental constitutional rights. We believe that all persons should have access to our courts.
DISCRIMINATION: We oppose discrimination of any kind – whether in employment, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, veteran status, religious affiliation, spiritual beliefs, health care, education, retirement programs, housing, or any other area. We encourage vigorous enforcement of existing civil rights laws and a periodic re-examination of their adequacy.

NON-DISCRIMINATORY EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES: We support access to employment without discrimination of any kind. We support vigorous enforcement of existing anti-discrimination laws to ensure that all persons have access to good jobs at fair wages and benefits.

    NORTH CAROLINA REPUBLICAN PLATFORM

    1. We believe our nation’s strength lies with the family. The family is where each new generation gains its moral anchor. It is the first school of good citizenship, the engine of economic progress, and a haven of security and understanding in an ever-changing world.
    2. Republicans believe that a two-parent family, where a husband and wife live in harmony in one home, provides the ideal environment for raising children and is the best model for family life.
    3. We praise the courageous efforts of single parents who work hard to provide stable homes. We recognize that single parents often succeed and that two-parent families sometimes fail.
    4. We believe homosexuality is not normal and should not be established as an acceptable “alternative” lifestyle either in public education or in public policy. We do not believe public schools should be used to teach children that homosexuality is normal, and we do not believe that taxpayers should fund benefit plans for unmarried partners. We oppose special treatment by law based on nothing other than homosexual behavior or identity. We oppose actions, such as “marriage” or the adoption of children by same-sex couples, which attempt to legitimize and normalize homosexual relationships. We support the Defense of Marriage Act and will support a constitutional amendment to ensure that marriage is limited to the union of one man and one woman. We commend private organizations, such as the Boy Scouts, which defend moral decency and freedom according to their own well-established traditions and beliefs.
    5. Many children do not live in loving families, free of abuse and neglect. This must change. Government cannot legislate family love and compassion and should not preempt parental responsibility for children; however, government can protect children from abuse and neglect. We support laws that balance parental rights with the protection of a child’s life, safety and well being. We support efforts to hasten the adoption of foster children into permanent, safe and nurturing homes. We urge strong support for religious and private initiatives that seek to promote healthy, nurturing families and work to restore and rebuild dysfunctional families.

    Article IV: Sanctity of Life
    1. The North Carolina Republican Party believes strongly in the sanctity of all human life.
    2. We believe unborn children have constitutional rights to life and liberty, and we therefore urge the Supreme Court to overturn its decision in Roe vs. Wade. We also support the adoption of a constitutional amendment establishing that human life begins at conception. We stand with the overwhelming majority of Americans who oppose efforts to mandate legalized abortion or to fund local, national, or international organizations that provide or promote abortion services. Abortion is never an acceptable method of birth control.
    3. We oppose the heinous procedure known as partial-birth abortion. We applaud President Bush and the majority of the Congress who passed into law the federal Partial Birth Abortion Ban. We urge the North Carolina General Assembly to pass state legislation prohibiting this procedure. Furthermore, we urge members of the Republican Party of North Carolina to support financially, or with in-kind contributions, only those candidates or nominees who support measures to end partial-birth abortions.
    4. We support and strongly encourage positive alternatives to abortion, such as adoption. We believe that biases against intact, caring families should be eliminated from adoption laws and tax codes. Adoption should be encouraged through significant tax credits, insurance reforms and legal reforms.
    5. We oppose the erosion of parental rights and responsibilities by agents of the state when it comes to pregnant unmarried minors. Informed consent and parental consent should be prerequisite to any minor receiving family-planning services.
    6. We support all developments in biomedical research and technology that enhance and protect human life. But we oppose any new development that does not treat all human life as a precious gift of God, or that does not treat every individual human life as a locus of unique and irreplaceable dignity no matter how weak, immature, or dependent.
    7. We oppose all procedures in research and medicine that involve the intentional destruction of innocent human life except to save a mother’s life. We also oppose the cloning of whole human beings, the use of human embryos in research for purposes other than advancing their own health and safety, as well as all forms of active euthanasia.
    8. We urge the recruitment and support of candidates who will work hard to protect all innocent human life

    Article VII: Education

    8. All schools should encourage patriotism and knowledge of the traditional values of Western civilization upon which our republic is based. We oppose using public dollars, to fund liberal attempts at social engineering contrary to the foundations on which our nation rests. We support daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in our schools, and we believe every classroom should display an American flag and a copy of our national motto — “In God We Trust.”
    9. Republicans oppose mandatory sex education in public schools and believe sex education should not be included in any public school program without obtaining prior approval from parents or guardians. Where sex education is included, we support teaching abstinence until marriage as required by state law, and as the expected norm for acceptable sexual behavior. National studies have shown that the majority of Americans agree with this approach. The practice of abstinence until marriage is the most effective way to prevent teenage pregnancies, absentee fathers, abortion, and sexually transmitted diseases. It is also the most effective way to create healthy relationships and healthy self-esteem among young people.
    10. We oppose the provision of school-based social services, including school-based clinics and mental health programs, which attempt to bypass parental authority and responsibility.
    11. Just as discourse on public policy relies on moral principles based on spiritual convictions, so also learning must rely on moral principles supported by our deepest convictions. We believe America must be neutral toward religion itself. But mindful of our country’s Judeo-Christian heritage and rich religious pluralism, we also support the right of students to engage in voluntary prayer in school and the right of others to pray as well at public occasions such as commencement exercises. We also strongly support equal access to school facilities.

  2. Pastor Williams,
What does the Bible say about women in leadership roles in the church, i.e evangelist, elders, pastors, bishops, apostles, etc.?

  3. I Timothy 2:12 Paul says that he does not permit a woman is not to usurp authority over a man or teach.

First, this is Paul’s statement and not the Lord’s. Paul differentiates when he is speaking versus the Lord speaking as given in I Corinthians 7:10,12.

Secondly the word usurp means to take authority from a person or use your own authority to take control. It does not mean that a woman cannot be given the authority, only that she is not to take it.

We see this in Acts 18:26 when Priscilla along with her husband Aquila corrects Apollos a mighty man in the scriptures that only knew the Baptism of John. Priscilla along with Aquila expounded to him a more excellent way, which meant introducing Apollos to the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus. Also there is a church in their house as shown in I Corithians 16:19

Thirdly, in the same verse it says that she is to keep silence. This is the give away that he is talking about an isolated situation and is not setting precedent for the entire church. Acts 21:8,9 speaks of Philip having daughters that prophesy. Prophesy was spoken in the church. Therefore woman were allowed to prophesy in the church.

The Books of the Bible concerning church order, Thessalonians, Timothys and Titus refer to men in the leadership position. However, the New Testament Bible does not start a new trend with regard to leadership position for women.

Deborah, in Judges 4:4, was a judge of Israel. The Judge was the leader of Israel. Therefore the precedent of a woman ruling the people of God was set in the Old Testament.

Fourth, the roles mentioned above are gifts given by God. Ephesians 4:11, 12 states that these gifts are given for the perfecting of the saints. You do not work for a gift. It is something God gives as warranted, I Corinthians 12:24-25.

Fifth, Romans 16:1, mentions Phebe a servant (Greek diakonos) along with other women laborers in the church. In I Corinthians 3:5 Paul uses the same Greek word for servant to describe himself and Apollos as ministers. Therefore he equates the work of Phebe as being comparable to the work he and Apollos did.

  4. Pastor Williams,
While watching the evening news(CNN) about thirty minutes ago, a disturbing pattern of events unfolded before my eyes. Not just one miscarriage of justice against a Black person was being reported, but three incidences. First of all, the death of a 14 yr old male who was tortured to death at a military-type boot camp ran by the Sheriff’s dept in a Florida county. Apparently, the practice is to “initiate” each child into the regulations of the camp by humiliating them in order to “break” their spirits. Seven drill officers tormented this child, who was placed in this camp because he stole his grandmother’s car, while a nurse stood by watching and did nothing. The young man fell to the ground, and because he didn’t get up, the officers started beating him. All of this occurred within one hour of his arrival to boot camp. Thank God it was all caught on tape by a surveillance camera! His death was ruled as ” from natural causes secondary to sickle cell anemia ” by the Medical Examiner. Because of public outrage, Gov Bush launched an independent investigation. The second Medical Examiner ruled his death as suffocation, and not from “natural causes”. Finally, after almost eleven months, all seven officers and the nurse were indicted today for 1st degree manslaughter with deprived indifference. Secondly, the 88 yr old Black grandmother who was shot and killed by police officers when they broke into her home, allegedly on a drug bust raid. The informant, also black, said today that he did not tell the police drugs were being sold at that house. The informant is now in protective custody. Thirdly, the tragic slaying of a Black man by police officers the day before his wedding. He and his friends were leaving his bachelor party when police fired fifty shots into their car. The story goes that one of them had a gun, but when the vehicle was searched, no weapon was found. My question: why has society so villianized and demonized the Black race? Most other races do not want their children to marry a black person. Last night I watched a program where an Asian (Chinese) man said that if he or his sister married a black person, his family would feel disgraced. The majority of excessive police force is perpetrated against the Black man. And, in almost every case, the police officers are exonerated. The Black man has contributed much to the world, in the fields of medicine, agriculture, technology, humanitarianism, fashion and politics. Yet, in spite of all our contributions; as a race of people we are still viewed as inferior. In the business world, the black man is the least desirous. And, in “matters of the heart”, the black woman is the least coveted among men.

  5. KB,

Very good points you bring up. First of all racism in this country is institutionalized. In 1968 the Supreme Court mandated that evolution must be taught in the public school system. Evolution has its Genesis in Charles Darwin. Darwin in his book the Descent of Man, compared Negros to savages and stated that the negro race would be exterminated. He also stated that we are a sub-species of man and that we are closer to the ape. This is what all children are being taught in an indirect way in our public school system.

Secondly, we as African Americans have a long way in this country but we are now turning our backs on God. Never has a nation of people risen as fast as we have from slavery to some of the top positions in Government. Just as God dealt with Israel for their disobedience so is He dealing with the African Amerian in this country.

Thirdly, look to history. Africans were the leaders of the world. Eqypt which is the northern part of Africa once ruled the world. Two tribes of Israel are African, Ephraim and Mannesah. On the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended, the greatest number of nations represented in the second chapter of Acts were from African countries.

Fourthly, we must acknowledge that God is our Master and Lord for us to assume the rightful role He has for us in redemption.

However, this does not excuse the seemingly disregard for the value of black life by both black and white people. This is where those that have been by the Spirit of God need to become a voice in the wilderness. Isaiah 58:1 says to cry aloud and spare not. It is our responsibility as believers to cry out against injustices.

This is why we have the blog, radio and any other avenue we can use to spread the truth of God’s word to a world that is devoid of truth.

Act 17:26 states that God made all nations of people out of one blood. Galatians 3:28 says that we are all one in Christ Jesus. We as believers in Christ Jesus the Son of the One True Living God must reassume the initiative and stop being reactive and become proactive.

We can turn racism, which is a demonic spirit around through faith in Christ Jesus.

Until we address the root cause of racism we will continue to see not only the senseless violence committed by whites on black, but also that which is even more horrendous, black on black crime.

  6. AMEN! AMEN!! AMEN!!!!
    HALLELUJAH, PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!

  7. Pastor Williams,
Genesis 6:1-4 speaks of the sons of God fathering children with the daughters of men. Who are these “sons of God?” Also, can angels pro-create? Are all fallen angels demons?
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said to her(Mary), “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” Are there any scriptural references about Satan attempting to counterfeit the birth of Christ by overshadowing a young woman with his unholy spirit in order to give birth to the Antichrist spoken of in Revelations or will he just possess someone? I have often heard that Satan will try to counterfeit the things of God in order to decieve man.

  8. The sons of God refer to righteous men on the earth. Look at John 1:12. The sons of God are those that have trusted in the true and living God.

Also Matthew 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Marriage in the Jewish culture represented sexual intimacy. Marriage is the only relationship where God condones sexual relationships. Christ Jesus our Lord said that angels do not engage in sexual intimacy.

Therefore the verse does not represent angels having sex with humans.

There are no verses that refer to a counterfeit birth. There are scriptures where the enemies tries to prevent the birth of Christ, but nowhere does he try to counterfeit Christ’s birth. Indeed the Bible shows that whenever great slaughter of babies takes place is when God moves in a super way. The birth of Moses and the birth of Christ Jesus our Lord demonstrate this. Some believe that with the abortions taking place now in the world, that this could the prelude to another super natural move of God.
