Your thoughts on the recent disclosure of former governor James McGreevey’s (an openly confessed homosexual) conversion from Catholicism to Episcopalism and his enrollment into the seminary? As yet, he has not admitted to future intentions of becoming a priest.
One of the greatest threats to the Church today is mainlining the Christian faith. What I mean, is when the faith becomes acceptable to everyone, and no one is convicted by it. This threat comes from leadership that is not God given or sent.
Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Today’s leadership at times represents the successes of man and not greater devotion to God.
Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Christ Jesus while on earth never espoused the material success that is oftentimes glorified through mega ministries. I have heard leaders say that he or she started with very humble beginnings, but now God has blessed them with so much material wealth. Instead the person should be seeking to return to those very humble beginnings and forego the temporal blessings that come from the pleasures of this world. It is totally hypocritical for a leader to own a jet, drive expensive cars, own multiple homes and have the sheep live in squalor. Instead of the sheep seeking a life of humility with contentment, they are emulating the life of success shown by these leaders. It is the world’s perspective and goes against the commandment of our Lord when He said you cannot serve God and mammon too. You cannot pursue both.
It is this type of leadership that has opened the door for the Grevey’s of the world to enter into a place considered the Holiness of God without being Holy. The following scriptures allows us to know who is of God and who is not.
1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
If we hold true to the Word of God, it allows us to discern who is of God and who is not of God. People will be deceived if they simply listen to the words spoken and not look at the fruit of righteousness based on God’s Word.
Luke 6:43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Luke 6:44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
Homosexuality, infidelity are all works of the flesh and fruits of unrighteousness.
Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,…. of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
We that are believers know the truth. It is the world that is deceived because the world loves sin rather than righteousness.

I just celebrated yet another birthday and took some time to reflect on how “successful” my life has been. In doing so, I was reminded of the parable of the talents. I then looked at what I had done to determine if I were standing before Jesus and he was judging how well I had used the talents I had been given, what would his verdict be? Many people equate money with success but I don’t necessarily go by that. In my book, success is measured by what you are capable of doing and did you in fact go out and get it done! I think many people would be judged similar to the person in the talents parable who hid his talents under a rock. I think many poeple spend there time “hiding” behind going to church, reading the Bible and saying all the right things, but they don’t go out and make a difference in the world they live in currently. They are so concerned with being accepted into the next life that they lay low and don’t want to make a difference in this world. In my view, attitudes like this are just as bad a sinning on a regular basis

Congratulations on celebrating another birthday. The Heavenly Father has graced you to have another year on the earth. What thanks will you give Him. The Bible says everything was created for the good pleasure of Christ Jesus His Son – that includes you. Today is the day of salvation, surrender your heart to Him.
Before you can get to the part of being judged on your talents, you must first accept Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior. The word “Lord” is better translated as master or boss in today’s vernacular. If Christ Jesus is your master or boss, could you honestly stand before Him and say that you have done everything He required of you. What is your measuring stick for saying that you made a difference? Is it simply looking out for you and yours, or are you saying that you reached out beyond the confines of those that look like you, associate with you and with those you made a difference.
The most important difference that can be made in anyone’s life is to get that person to believe on the Lord Christ Jesus and accept Him as Saviour. How many people have you shared the Gospel of Christ with. The Bible says only what you have done for Christ will last. All your other accomplishments will perish if they are not done in the name of Christ Jesus. For something to be done in the name of Christ Jesus, His name has to be invoked over that thing.
You sound so much like the rich young ruler:
Luke 18: 18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
Do not let all of the good you have done be in vain. Love the Lord Jesus and share Him with others!!
Jerry Falwell, the founder of the Moral Majority recently passed. There are things that have been said that do not justify the stand he took for the cause of Christ. The world intentionally try to portray righteousness as evil and evil as good.
Anderson Cooper, a part of the CNN network, interviewed a former worker with Jerry Falwell. This person eventually admitted that he was a sinner involved in homosexuality. For this Jerry Falwell distanced himself from this person. This person rather than admitting that he was a sinner tried to disparage the name of Jerry Falwell because of the stand he took against the sin of homosexuality.
I think it rather ironic that Anna Nicole Smith and James Brown are said to be in heaven by some people, while some have stated that Jerry Falwell is in hell for the stand he took based on the Word of God. What did Anna Nicole Smith or James Brown do to inherit the Kingdom of God.
Once again we must not let the world set our standards for righteousness. It is the Word of God that we will be judged by. Not he popular opinion of men.
Jerry Falwell may have had his shortcomings as we all have. However, the difference between Jerry Falwell and others that have not confessed Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior, is that he did confess Christ Jesus as Lord.
It is through faith in Christ Jesus that we are forgiven. It is time for us to esteem highly those that are persecuted for taking a stand on the Word of God. They may not be perfect but they are pointing us to something that is perfect – God’s Holy Word.
