If Jehovah Witnesses do not acknowledge Christ Jesus as the Messiah/Savior, The Lamb of God who became The Atonement for the sins of mankind, The Sacrificial Lamb who paid our sin debts by giving His life, shedding His precious blood as a ransom for our transgressions; what do they do as a sacrifice?
I know that the present day Jews no longer offer a living sacrifice because of the destruction of the Temple, instead they pray and give penance at the Wailing Wall in Israel.
Johovah Witnesses acknowledge all of the above. They believe that Christ Jesus roles in the Titles you listed are subordinate to God the Father. Meaning, they believe that Jesus is not almighty God but a creation of God as the angels are creations of God.
They also believe that through accurate knowledge, which is what you get by being a Jehovah’s Witness, is what saves you.
They also do not beleive in eternal damnation in hell’s fire. That only the 144,000 will actually reign in heaven, the rest of the saved will spend their life on earth.
Soul sleep, is what they believe happens when a person dies. He is not aware of anythings or neither does he do anything. The person does not go to heaven or hell, but simply rests in the grave.
Luke 16 speaks of the rich lifting up his eyes being in torment in hell’s fire. Revelation speaks of the beast and false prophet being in the Lake of Fire for a thousand years before satan is tossed into the same Lake of Fire. Also there were a number of saints that no man could number who had their robes washed white in the Blood of the Lamb that were in heaven who serve God day and night in the Temple in Heaven.
Another major difference is the belief in the Holy Spirit. JH believe that He is a thing, it, or a force and not a person. It is their belief that speaking in tongues is demonic.
Christ Jesus our Lord said to baptize in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These are persons. Ananias and Sapphira dropped dead for lying to the Holy Spirit. You cannot lie to things because they cannot hold you accountable.
They call themselves Jehovah’s Witnesses because they teach that is the name of God. God’s name in the Hebrew is YHWH. Hebrew as written in the Bible does not contain vowels. They still transliterated the Hebrew name for God and changed it to Jehovah even though there is no letter J in the Hebrew. Therefore they are wrong in saying that is the name of God.
The Book of Acts says there is no other name under heaven given amongst men whereby we must be saved but the Name of Jesus.
One other sinful thing is they believe Jesus and the archangel Michael are one in the same. They believe that Jesus is a creation of God or angel.
The Book of Hebrews says unto which of the angels did God the Father say, thou art my Son, this day I have begotten thee.
So, are you saying that Jehovah Witnesses beleive that Jesus died for their sins as the Sacrifical Lamb of God?
I had the opportunity to compare the King James Version of the Bible with a JW bible version of the Gospel of John1:1 several yrs ago, and their verse read the same as the King James verse with one exception. The verse ended by saying that ” the word was a god.”
Please clarify.
You are correct. They believe in more than one God in the Godhead that are separate and distinct. As stated they believe that Jesus is an angel, therefore not equal to God the Father and an inferior god.
Christ Jesus stated that the Father and I are one. JH believes this means one in agreement, not in essence.
Christ Jesus states that He is the only Begotten of the Father. JH believes this to mean that Jesus was created as the angels were created. If he is a creation that takes away from his divinity and makes Him as one of the angels. Not greater than the angels as stated in the first chapter of Hebrews.
John 1:1, where they use the term “a god” is translated in the Greek as divine. Their lack of understanding of the term “word” undermines their understanding of the Word of God. “Word” which is the Greek “Logos” is also translated from the Hebrew word “Memra”. The word logos/memra/word is actually the voice of God in the Old Testament Hebrew. You cannot separate your voice from who you are. That was the intent of John 1:1. Jesus is the literally spoken Word of God.
Remember in the Book of Genesis the Heavens and the Earth were spoken into Existence. That spoken Word in the Beginning creating everything was Christ Jesus our Lord. That is why the Genesis account makes the statement “let us”. Because the Son was with the Father as stated in John 1:1 creating everything.
Therefore they have idolatry because they believe there are two gods, even though one is inferior to the other. True believers know there is one God. Deuteronomy 6:4 states there is only one God. To worship more than one God is idolatry. I John 5:7,8 states the Father, Word and the Holy Spirit are one.
Are all of the angels male? I’ve noticed that the angels mentioned in the Bible have male names.
Psalm 8:4 – 5 states ” What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor.”
If we are heirs of Christ; how are we ” made a little lower than the angels? “
Every instance of an Angel given in the Bible is Male. There is an instance in Zechariah where there are two women with wings, but they are not called angels.
Zechariah 5:9 Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven
Angels when mentioned in the Bible do not have wings. Cherubims, which were over the Mercy of God in the Tabernacle, also have wings. In Jewish tradition, they are described (Ezek. 10) as having four faces and four wings.
Exodus 25:20 And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.
Seraphims and Cherubims are different than angels. They have wings and are mixed at times with other features of God’s creations. Cherubims have four wings and Seraphims have six wings. Angels are not mentioned in the Bible as having wings. That is why the men of Sodom and Gomorrah, Mary at the tomb of Jesus and Peter did not recognize them as Angels, because they looked like ordinary men.
Ezekiel 1:6 And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.
Ezekiel 10:21 Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.
Isaiah 6:2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
The reference is not to human beings, but to Christ Jesus. Christ Jesus was made lower than the Angels so that He could taste of death. The term “Son of Man” is a Jewish term for Messiah.
Read Hebrews 2:6-9 which is the companion scripture to Psalms 8:4-5.
Hebrews 2:6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: {lower…: or, while inferior to}
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. {for the: or, by the}
